FERN TREEGULLY WALK – Rylstone Area

FERN TREEGULLY WALK – Rylstone Area

SUNDAY APRIL 16, 2017

A neat dozen of us gathered on Easter Sunday from our meeting point in Lovejoy Street carpark and was farewelled by Life Member Andrea who happened to be out walking the dog.

Participants re-grouped at the Ferntree Gully car park around 9:30am (for a shared Morning Tea and chocolate was the topic of conversation).  Hans gave us a brief overview of Ferntree Gully from the Interpretive signage and then led the group into Ferntree Gully where multiple fungi of many variety and colours were a highlight. The moss over the rocks and the masses of bush orchids abundant in the gully. The gully walk distance is a mere 2.5klm an easy walk with 101 steps on the way out. (I counted them). After lunch the Peppermint Trail another easy walk distance of 2.7klm was conquered. It was the first time visited for our two newest members Pam and Warren. Ivy ensured the visitors book at the Park was signed and comments noted that we had been there. Thank you to Hans for leading the walk.
