Redbank Dam Walk, Mudgee

Redbank Dam Walk, Mudgee

Thanks to Hans Staub for providing the photos.

Nineteen walkers set out from Redbank Reserve carpark in perfect weather for a fairly challenging 8km walk to boundary gate & back. The going was steep & slippery in places & those that had walking poles found them useful. We stopped at waterworks gully for a shared morning tea on the way up.

A bit of puffing & panting could be heard when we reached boundary gate, but on the way down much chatting & even some singing was heard!

The day ended with lunch in bright sunshine at the dam.

Date: Sunday July 16th

Time: 09:30 AM

Description:
Meet & set off from the Redbank Dam carpark at 0930. Going up on the left side of the dam, it is approximately 4kms to the top boundary gate. We will stop along the way for a shared morning tea. Return (also about 4kms) will be on other side of the dam.

The going is pretty steep up & down in many places. It would be worthwhile to bring walking poles if you use them as the loose gravel can be very slippery.

We should be back at the picnic area near the carpark by 1230 to 1300 so anyone who wishes to could bring lunch to have together there before we head home.

Total distance about 8 kms & going moderate/hard.
