Sunday 20th November 2016 – Historic Mountain Passes, Hartley Vale – Mount York return

Meet: 7.30am Lovejoy Street

Where To: Hartley Vale – Mount York (Blue Mountains).  Walk will start at Lockyer’s Track Head Carpark at Hartley Vale.

Description: Bushwalk

Walk A: Lockyers Pass (dated 1832) , then along the track adjacent to Mount York Road, then Cox’s decent (the first road over the Blue Mountains built in 1815).  Approx 11 ks.  Medium to Hard.

Walk B: Drive to Mount York after morning tea.  Walk along the track adjacent to Mount York Road.  Return to Mount York and descend a short way on Cox’s Road then drive back to Lockyer’s Track Head.  Approx 4 ks.  Easy.

At Mount York Lookout there many monuments and plaques and a fantastic view.  Along Mount York Road there is convict wells to discover and Barden Lookout. On Cox’s Road there are many features of convict road building to look out for.

Lunch: Mount York Reserve (both Groups)

Bring: plenty of water, sunscreen and a hat as it could be hot.
