2025-2026 AGM Results, with membership recognition.

The Mudgee Bushwalking and Bike Riding Club Inc held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Quarterly General Meeting on 11 June 2025. A winter event held in the comforts of a warm and cosy meeting room. Again this year all the Office Bearer’s that form the Management Team were thanked for their time and enthusiasm and commitment to the club. The strong committee once again had some amazing tasks to address, to keep all members involved in activities to suit their abilities. The elections were conducted by Public Officer – Glen Hill while Melanie Trethowan documented the procedure for the positions for 2025-2026. This year however before the elections commenced we had two special memberships to present. Club President presented Honorary Life Membership to Elly Rands and Life Membership to Neville Higgs.

Membership recognition: Elly Rands Continuous membership since 2004, exceptional contribution by taking on many management roles; a repeat offender of the secretarial role. (A vital role within the club). Elly continues to be a well-respected member and always has a positive approach to club matters. Her continued role now as club custodian, leaving all the hills and terrain for others to explore. Negative: Not a keen camper!

Membership recognition: Neville Higgs An inaugural and continuous member of the club. Taken on the role of President (a few times), Walk and Ride Leader (multiple times) with a continuous membership for 30 years plus; still a keen bushwalker and never-ending bike rider. In question: Its been often asked does Nev own a car? On your bike Nev and keep pedalling.

Great to see all positions filled, some were however a little hesitant in their respective nominations however with a great team selected and the patience of the members this year will no doubt be keeping members on their toes. A huge congratulations to the outgoing team and to those that have retained their positions; also thank you to the ongoing bike riding leader(s); Bill Webster, Bruce Roberts and Kim Vidler.

The meeting concluded with a 14 minute slideshow of “Over the last 10 plus years” while enjoying a light supper. (thank you Gretha for preparation). ‘Happy Birthday’ to Elly- a birthday can never goes unnoticed at a club meeting. Attending tonight for possibly their last meeting was Chris & Kathy Anderson as they retire from club activities; something to do with hips, knee’s and toes! great to see you both and thank you for ensuring Elly attended.
