Time: 8:30am Departing Mudgee from Lovejoy St carpark Re-meet: Arboretum: 10:00am Location: 95 Tara Road, Mumbil Travel Distance: Mudgee to Arboretum – Allow 1 1/2 hrs -120km

From Wellington: 29km Travel along Mitchell Hwy/A32, approx 4km turn left onto Burrendong Way for 16.7km, and left 600m onto The Cir Road another right turn onto Fashions Mount Rd for 4.6km and right once again Tara Road for 1.6km arrive at visitors area. (picnic,parking,toilets). Morning tea before heading off on a few walk options. ie Harris Lookout loop, Eucalypt loop, mint bush loop, woodland loop and the Fern Gully Loop a must for all to see. Walk Distance: 5-7km approx. or your choice.

More Details: The Burrendong Botanic Garden and Arboretum is dedicated to the preservation and conservation of Australia’s unique and incredibly diverse flora, and is located near Mumbil, south-east of Wellington in the Central West region of New South Wales.

Don’t miss a stroll through Fern Gully, once a dry bush gully that has been transformed into a man-made rainforest situated beneath an enormous thatched canopy. Enjoy the trickling creek lined with palms, tree ferns and rainforest trees in this delightful oasis. Pack your pushbike, a picnic hamper, bird watching binoculars and your very best walking shoes to experience nature at it’s best.

Open daily with free entry, sunrise to sunset. Free guided tours of Burrendong Botanic Garden and Arboretum are available by arrangement every 4th Sunday of each month. We are covid safe and compliant, so please check in at the visitor centre. We are located at 95 Tara Road, Mumbil, NSW. 

The Garden houses one of the largest collections of Australian plants in cultivation. Over 50,000 flowering plants, shrubs and trees from more than 2,000 species are growing on 164 hectares with stunning views overlooking Lake Burrendong. Burrendong Arboretum, was established in 1964 as a result of the efforts of George and Peter Althofer, the 167 hectare Garden opens from sunrise to sunset every day of the year.
