After an overnight 15mls of rain and early morning skies looking perfect for a trip to the Blue Mountains and an early start. Members left Lovejoy Street carpark at 7:30am headed to meet up with other members at Evans Head lookout by 9:30.

Altogether 15 members for Morning Tea and sunshine overlooking the Grose Valley. 8 keen members headed down into the ‘Grand Canyon’ with John, whilst other members with a preference for the Option 2 walk – took to the lookouts after saying goodbye to Eric and Jo who now reside in the Blue Mountains (just called in to have M/T with the members).

Option 1 walk: took approx. 3 ½ hours taking in all the scenery and caves and waterfalls and checking on the local crayfish/yabbie’s along the way.

Option 2 walk: saw the group admiring the fauna and especially the mountain devils – with various stages of growth. I think they are the most spiky little plants known as I just seemed to brush them the wrong way. After a few short strolls and yes those steps we managed to visit 3 lookouts and return in time to see the Grand Canyon members walking towards their destination.

Note: The Grand Canyon track has had some recent track repairs and in some areas repairs are still ongoing. Very pleasant track to walk.
