Walk: Cullen Bullen area (brief)

Hello dear members -another JULY activity is approaching… Walk: Cullen Bullen area- Gardiner’s Gap Rd (Gardens of Stone State Conservation Area). The last time we visited as a club was back in 2011. Weather permitting.

Date: Sunday 23 July 2023 Meet: Lovejoy Street carpark (Douro Street end) Time: 8:00am Re-meet: Capertee Rest Area 9:00am Leader(s): Feroz, Joby & John

Walk Distance: approx. 8km and with a 11km option to stretch those legs. Walk Description: Walk along a road/fire trail 4km (Gardiner’s Gap Road), then a 200m through bush, then continue walking on rock formation and with spectacular views, birdlife and wattle and abundance of natives. and return. Note: First 2 kms undulating terrain= gradient 2.5 hill(s).

Re-capping Important Details: Departing Mudgee 8:00am / Re-meet: Capertee Rest Area Time: 9:00am (Directions will be given to drive a further 5 1/2 km to depart Hwy on LHS, to then drive dirt track for 500m to parking point to enjoy a shared M/T at a bush location, while leaders prepare the equipment before walk. Grade: Med with 2.5 gradients x 4. Map ref: Cullen Bullen Reccy done: 20/6/2023.

What to Bring: Morning tea (to share) in a bush environment while leaders prepare the equipment and conduct the briefing, prior to walk. Bring a packed lunch for ‘along the way’, water. Walking pole(s) optional. What to wear: sturdy walking shoes/boots, no decent shoes = no walk……. Hat, suitable clothing. Binoculars (optional). With every walk activity the club’s equipment will be available at the discretion of the leader.
