“Sunday 5th May 2022. Mt Misery walk. The day started cloudy and cool, but not raining, we car pooled and headed to the Common to start our walk up. A rough track quite steep in places but giving us tantalising hints of the view to come. The views gave us plenty of opportunity to catch our breath and enjoy the fresh breeze. We reached the summit and walked along the ridge line which was relatively easy going stopping on the top of Mt Misery for a photo shoot and to decide that it would be better to go a bit further on for morning tea into a less exposed section. Morning tea was enjoyed by all and many we tried to figure out where our houses were below in the valley. After a good rest we headed down and across with some more shorts ups to the Telstra towers. We went further down to an abandoned Telstra communication spot, nothing but a brick building and an abandoned aerial giving proof of its former life. Hidden away is an old observatory, missing its roof and telescope. It was all down hill from here. There were not many flowers out, some just getting buds but the mushrooms/ fungi were in abundance and some very unusual ones were discovered including a green one and one that looks like coral. This was a great walk, and one to be recommended if it comes up again. Thanks to our leaders Victoria, Michelle and John. Also to our ground crew Joby. A great day was had by all. ”
