Canberra (Report) 2023

Walk Report by Joby (#4 for 2023). Canberra – Members participated in the Aussie Peace Walk, hosted by the Rotary Clubs in Canberra. Dates: Saturday 25th & Sunday 26th March 2023. Participants: 14 This is an annual event and again well organised by Rotary, thank you to all those that were involved in supporting this event. Many international walkers returning after the Covid and travel requirements.

Combined group distance walked: 271km. As each day had walk options (referring to the distance):some members surprised themselves with their own personal goals. Walk distance broken down to Cabin(s): Rands/Baker distance walked (47km), Kroll cabin (48km), Mitchell, Mitchell, Lovell cabin(79km), Todd cabin (48km), Anderson, Anderson, Jordon, Dempsey cabin (37km), Webster solo (12km-1 day). Breaking distance walked/achieved: Individual(s); Michelle B 45km, Colleen 36km, Gretha 24km, Ole 24km, Sue 24km, Colin 24km, John 24km, Joby 19km, Kathy 14km, Chris 14km, Bill D (1 day 12km), Bill D 7km, Adrian & Elly 2-3km each own course (and club ground crew)! Distance from Mudgee: to Canberra depends on which way you chose to travel, many found the alternative route via Bathurst, Goulburn a nice drive – still approx 5.3hrs. Map Ref: Each participant wore a lanyard with a booklet of all the walks for the weekend. noting checkpoints to indicate the participants achievements. Noting the club colours worn and stood out throughout the walk once again. LASTLY & not forgetting who excelled herself at this event was club mascot “Bonnie”! Thank you once again Elly for coordinating these members.
