Walk – two historic passes Mt York – where Mt Victoria

Walk: Mount York – Where: Mount Victoria – in fact walking Two Historic Mountain Passes.

Date: Sunday 11 June2023 Meet: Lovejoy Street carpark (Douro Street end) Time: 7:30am Leader(s): Bill Webster &TBA on the day

Details: Travel (145kms from Mudgee), to start of walk: Lockyer’s Track campground-Hartley Vale (Bill will advise directions on Sunday morning at meeting point. “noting Browns Gap road from Lithgow is closed due to the land slip so we will need to go via Hartley”. Allow 2 hours with ‘pit stop’.

Walk Description: Walk from Hartley Vale to Mt York via Lockyer’s route approx. 7km’s and return via Cox’s route- approx. 4km’s,

Bring & enjoy a packed lunch at the Mt York area and meet up with Elly (birthday girl) & Joby. Before walking back down via the Cox’s Route to end of walk &vehicles. Walk conditions: Vertical climb of about 250m –mainly in first1.5km of walk, & of course a descent from Mt York along the Cox’s route. Total Walk Distance: approx. 11km. Grade: Medium Map ref: Hartley Topo Map.

What to Bring: Shared Moring tea before the walk. lunch, water. Walking pole (optional).

What to wear: Sturdy walking shoes(boots), Hat, suitable clothing.

On all previous activities the contact person for participants to RSVP to has been Elly Rands (Secretary), However please note due to Elly changing her role due to a recent medical hiccup – Joby will be assisting with this role (for now).
